Day 24

The morning started slow. Like a new years morning after the nights celebration. Everybody returning to their bunks early again. Anatoli mentioned two choices for today. "Potatoes" or "peeled potatoes". Both boiled in seawater. I thought about the menu for a while and then opted for the "peeled potatoes" boiled in seawater.

Constantin is reporting extreme fatigue. More as last week. Goltis looking very tired as he played on the drum in the afternoon - but he quickly lost interest in striking a rhythm. He sometimes goes days without water. I think it is madness. He is really trying to push his body's ability to the maximum. He said that he will start building a new body when this fast is over. I don't know what to think of his stubborn willpower anymore. Andriy wearingly came out to brush his teeth after saying his morning prayers. Just to fall back into his bunk. He also looks tired. Only sleeping 2 - 3 hours last night. Anatoli later tells me that Andriy has had some cold shivers during the night. He is going through his "crises" today. I don't think that he will ask me for help during this time. He just smiles as I ask him how it is going saying "good, 3 - 4 out of ten".

The rest of the day went by in the same fashion for me. Eat, sleep. Sleep eat. I feel the urge for exercise tonight. Wanting to stretch my legs beyond the boundaries of the boat. We are making good speed at 7 knots with a good wind under a clear star peppered sky. I watched the fluorescent plankton in the waves before I turned in. I realize how small the plankton is and how bright it shines. Like a shooting star as the water rushes by. Light from a distant star sparkling a reflection in the smallest piece of plankton.

We should break the 1000 miles to go mark before lunch time tomorrow.
